A Century of Legacy. A Future of Innovation.
Dickman-Hines Lumber is a national wholesale lumber distributor, founded in 1985 by Ralph L. “Skip” Dickman III and Bruce Hines. Combining Skip’s deep family roots in the timber industry and expertise in strategic purchasing with Bruce’s strengths in lumber sourcing and operations, we’ve grown into a trusted national wholesale distributor serving builders, contractors, and suppliers across the country.
Our roots trace back nearly a century—to the historic Dickman Mill on Ruston Way in Tacoma, Washington, once known as the Lumber Capital of the World. In 1922, Ralph L. Dickman Sr. established the Dickman Lumber Company and quickly became a pioneer in the industry. Under his leadership, the mill produced over 150,000 board feet of lumber per day, powered by a 34-foot-tall head saw—an engineering marvel of its time. After his passing in 1972, his son, Ralph L. “Bud” Dickman II, led the mill until its closure in 1977, marking the end of an era—but not the tradition.
Out of that deep-rooted history, Dickman-Hines Lumber emerged—built on the same core values that shaped the Pacific Northwest timber industry: hard work, integrity, and a commitment to quality in every board and every partnership.
In 2019, Blair Dickman completed the acquisition of Dickman-Hines Lumber and led the company into a new era—expanding our reach and strengthening relationships with suppliers and customers alike. Today, we leverage our vast inventory and high-quality products alongside a hands-on, customer-first approach—delivering reliable service that supports the success of every client’s project, large or small.
